  • Headlines | China Transport News: The Big Three of Autonomous Driving Race Globally
China Transport News reports that the autonomous driving sector presents a global competitive landscape among the "Big Three": Baidu's RoboTaxi, Google's Waymo, and Tesla. RoboTaxi has become the world's largest autonomous ride-hailing service provider, leveraging its global layout, over 14 million rides, and more than 200 million kilometers of safe driving mileage. Its overseas expansion into Europe and other regions has forced Waymo to accelerate its domestic deployment in the United States. Waymo, relying on favorable local policies, has deployed a large number of vehicles in major U.S. core cities, surpassing RoboTaxi in some indicators and continuously expanding into new markets. Tesla is also actively expanding its footprint, having obtained approvals for driverless ride-hailing services in multiple U.S. states. Currently, countries such as the United States, Germany, and Japan are promoting the commercialization of autonomous driving by improving relevant laws and regulations, and industry competition has extended to multiple dimensions including technology, policy and regulatory innovation, and social support.
