China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co., Ltd. (stock abbreviation: CAERI; stock code: 601965) was founded in March 1965, formerly known as Chongqing Heavy Duty Automotive Research Institute, and is a national first-class scientific research institution. In 2001, it was renamed Chongqing Automotive Research Institute and transformed into a science and technology-oriented enterprise at the same time. In 2003, it was placed under the administration of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of the State Council. In 2006, it underwent a joint restructuring with China General Technology (Group) Holding Co., Ltd. and became its wholly-owned subsidiary enterprise. In 2007, it was renamed China Automotive Engineering Research Institute and restructured as a limited liability company as a whole. In November 2010, it was wholly converted into China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co., Ltd. On June 11, 2012, CAERI was officially listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. In January 2023, it was formally restructured and incorporated into China Certification & Inspection Group Co., Ltd. (CCIC) through the professional integration of central enterprises.
