On July 11th, Guangxi officially issued its first batch of functional low-speed autonomous vehicle road test licenses in Liuzhou. Four companies, SAIC-GM-Wuling, Guangxi Automobile Group, Hongxin Technology and Jiushi Intelligent Consortium, and Saite Intelligent, received the licenses, marking the transition of autonomous driving in Guangxi from closed testing to open roads. The licensed unmanned logistics vehicles have a payload capacity of 900 kg and a range of 130 kilometers. Equipped with four lidar sensors and 14 cameras, they are capable of handling rain and snow. Liuzhou also opened a 50.3-kilometer test road for intelligent connected vehicles and is promoting the application of unmanned sightseeing vehicles, sanitation vehicles, and other scenarios, accelerating the development of an "AI+" ecosystem.
"In a significant step for autonomous vehicle development in Southern China, Guangxi has issued its first batch of low-speed autonomous vehicle road test licenses, while simultaneously opening 50 kilometers of dedicated test road in Liuzhou. This coordinated initiative establishes Guangxi as a emerging hub for LSAD testing and commercialization. The first batch of licenses allows companies to begin real-world testing of low-speed autonomous vehicles on public roads, supported by the extensive Liuzhou test road network that provides diverse scenarios for autonomous vehicle validation."

"The Guangxi autonomous driving initiative represents one of China's most comprehensive approaches to low-speed autonomous vehicle integration. The newly opened Liuzhou test road spans 50 kilometers through varied urban and semi-urban environments, specifically designed for autonomous vehicle testing. Companies receiving these road test licenses can now deploy their LSAD technologies across this extensive infrastructure. This Guangxi autonomous driving policy breakthrough creates immediate opportunities for autonomous vehicle developers seeking to test and validate their low-speed autonomous vehicle systems in real-world Chinese conditions, with the Liuzhou providing ideal test road facilities for everything from last-mile delivery robots to autonomous shuttle buses."
