Recently, at the 2025 China International Big Data Industry Expo, the Yangtze River Water Traffic Monitoring Center received national recognition for its multiple dataset development achievements.

At the Expo, the National Data Administration (NDA) released the first batch of pilot projects and typical cases for high-quality industry datasets. The Monitoring Center's "High-Quality Dataset Construction Project for Intelligent Ship Navigation" was successfully selected for the pilot program, and its "Yangtze River Smart Shipping Dataset" was recognized as a typical case study of high-quality datasets by the NDA. Previously, the Monitoring Center was recognized by the NDA as a leading organization in the development of high-quality datasets for the transportation industry.

In a significant advancement for inland waterway management, the Yangtze River Water Traffic Monitoring Center has received prestigious national-level recognition for its groundbreaking work in developing multiple, high-value datasets. These datasets are central to the digital transformation in shipping on the Yangtze River, enhancing capabilities in maritime safety, operational efficiency, and traffic flow optimization. This accolade underscores the Center's role as a pioneer in developing intelligent waterway systems for one of the world's most vital arteries of commerce."

Yangtze River shipping data

"The nationally acclaimed datasets provide deep insights into Yangtze River shipping data, including real-time vessel movements, waterway conditions, and logistical patterns. This supports a more sophisticated vessel traffic monitoring system, enabling predictive analytics and data-driven decision-making. By leveraging maritime data analytics, the Center is not only improving safety but also setting a new global standard for the intelligent waterway systems."

The "High-Quality Dataset Construction Project for Intelligent Ship Navigation" focuses on four core business scenarios: intelligent ship navigation, efficient ship-port collaboration, navigation safety management, and green and low-carbon shipping. It prioritizes the development of datasets covering ship trajectories, scheduling, imagery, carbon emissions, and logistics, creating a comprehensive and scalable data system. The "Yangtze River Smart Shipping Dataset" focuses on three key tasks: logistics cost reduction, green transformation, and safety and control. It promotes dataset development, intelligent entity development, scenario-based applications, and ecological collaboration, aiming to set a new benchmark for high-quality development of inland waterway transportation. The head of the Yangtze River Water Traffic Monitoring Center said that they will take this selection for the national pilot project as an opportunity to give full play to the role of the chain leader, accelerate the construction of high-quality data sets and the transformation of results, and help the Yangtze River shipping achieve digital transformation and intelligent upgrading.
